This anime OAD series is comprised of 5 episodes and covers the Journey to the Magical World arc from the manga. At the Negi no Ochaki event held in May of 2008, Ken Akamatsu said if the previous Ala Alba OAD series broke 50,000 copies in pre-oders, they'd consider adapting Negima into a movie, and if they were able to break 100,000 in views, a new animated series would be put into thought. The first OAD alone reached over 82,000 pre-orders and ended up breaking 245,000 with all three. Thus, this series was released in OAD format in mid-late 2009.
The anime series was bundled with the manga limited edition volumes (27-28, 30-32) and covers Negi and co. as they find themselves stranded from one another in the Magical World.
The episodes do not perfectly cover the manga counterpart, but these episodes are arguably the most true to the source material.
They were released exclusively in Japan and no official English sub of the series exists.
