It was Setsuna's morning meditation. She sat above the wide leaf of a plain lotus on the middle of a pond. Why you ask? Because her Kono-chan had stars reading that the swordsman had good affiliation with lotus and water. No. Not really, only good affiliation with water, the lotus was brought along at the garden exhibition because her Kono-chan pouted ever so cutely; Setsuna could die out of over breathing for not able to take in the cuteness of her Kono-chan. Yes. Her Kono-chan. Konoka Sakurazaki to whom she married five years ago.
'Breathe... the air of the water...' Setsuna concentrates more on her whole being. She tried to build connections of her spirit to the water, making better connections when using water support magic at battle. The water shimmers before it turned into gentle reverse rain that danced rotating the sowrdswoman.
'Breathe...'
"Aw come on Cakra-kun! Not fair."
Some of the water dorplet fell back into the pond as Setsuna was distracted by her beloved's sulky tone. Ever since Konoka insisted to train swordmanship a year ago, Setsuna had had trouble for her morning meditation. She could not concentrate well and, moreover, she got easily agitated recently which got her into a huge fight with her wife. For the first time EVER in their marriage life; about a half year ago, ever since their fights, the couple grew more distant they rarely talk except for goodnight. Then their tight schedule as a magister magi didn't help to make up their relationship better.
"All is fair in love and war, jou-chan." Came Cakra's reply before wooden sword clashing sound emerge and Konoka's scream sprung, "Cool, I'm surprised. You actually have better tacts than last year."
More water dorplets fell down and Setsuna decided to end her meditation session. She deeply sigh as all droplets fell into the pond. She stood up on the feeble lotus leaf then jumped on the stone pathway near the pond where she left her wooden sandals. She wore the sandals and fixed her hakama as she walked towards the sliding door separating her meditation space and the garden.
Then the door slides open, the Hanyou expected to see her wife and her former bodyguard partner and her student, "Oi girls, I thought we agreed to not practice at the garden. We agreed that morning practices takes place INSIDE the dojo." Setsuna frowned but her anger always quickly turned into sadness the minute she had to face her wife. Yet the sight before her, left the swordswoman speechless.
Cakra, Setsuna's former bodyguard partner and student, was standing with her blue dragon nodachi unseathed, purple blood was dripping off its edge and Konoka was on her knees pressing her stomach over her blodied yukata. The wound was not small, Cakra should had understood this and she was not supposed to attact her master, 'is this some kind of joke?'
After seathing the nodachi, Cakra turned into Setsuna and greeted her, "Ah, morning Setsu-crow."
"Are you out of your mind?!" Setsuna growled as she dashed towards Konoka's side and kneeled to support her body from falling, "Kono-chan are you okay?"
The princess nodded as she began chanting healing spell over her wound.
Setsuna shot her gaze back at the white haired nodachi wielder, "have you lost your mind, Cakra? What is the meaning of this?" Her tone was venomous and beyond serious. The using of formal speech indicates weariness.
"Yea?" Cakra began as she rubed her long cheek scar, "your wife told me to not hold back. God knows."
"But she's just an apprentice for God's sake! She even only hold a wooden sword. Why do you unleash your nodachi at her?" Setsuna retorted, shouting.
Cakra shrugged, "what's done is done. Can't retract what's been done."
Setsuna went gloom. 'Unforgivable. I cannot believe you actually hurt your master, Cakra. and not even showing any guilt!' Setsuna took konoka's wooden sword as she stood up.
Panicked at Setsuna's anger Konoka reached her wife's hand, attempting to calm her down, "Um. Secchan. It's okay. I did ask Cakra-kun to not hold back-"
"Oh shut it." Setsuna went to her half demon form for full front attack on Cakra. The wooden sword instantly broke after the impact with the nodachi's seath.
Cakra instinctively recoiled backwards after her defense got broken. Dodging the second attact on the process. The white haired bodyguard smiled as she felt the adrenaline rush. She infused her chi into the sword as it turns blazing gray. The dragon on the sheathe went alive and transformed into a dark chinese dragon with blue fins, protecting the nodachi bearer.
"Secchan stop. It's alright. It was my fault okay?" Konoka slowly stood and gripped on Setsuna's hand tighter, "so calm down okay?"
Setsuna took a momentary gaze at her princess. The side of her yukata was stained with blood, her black locks were messy, and underneath the locks was face striken with fear - the face of which the half demon often get, a very long time ago that she had almost forgotten, the face of her childhood friends who left her for not being human. Setsuna gritted her teeth at the sudden memory recall. She felt her blood boil more fearing that her wife too will one day left her. Setsuna yanked her hand.
"Sagita magica, series glaciais."
Setsuna summoned her swords and chanted barrier around her and konoka. Barrage of ice arrows hit the barrier at high speed and, surprisingly, quite powerful to shatter her mid level barrier. After the arrows shower ended the hanyou spreaded her wings and charged into Cakra. The bodyguard readied her nodachi to defect the charged counterattack but right before the impact the hanyou disappeared and quickly reapearing at the back and cutting the animated dragon downwards and slamming Cakra down at the process.
The bodyguard quickly motioned ninja jutsu with her hands, "100 Bunshin no jutsu" then her clones appeared mid air surrounding the hanyou, their blades oveflowing with darkness and ready to strike Setsuna, "Shinmeiryuu Style, sword dance strike!" Cakra commanded her clones to swiftly launch progressive attack on Setsuna. Her real body slammed to the ground, face first, the impact on her body was greatly reduced by the remnants of her animated dragon.
As the dragon faded from the bodyguard, Konoka ran towards her. She quickly grabbed Cakra by the collar, enraged by Cakra's attacks on her beloved, "You did too much! This wasn't part of our plans!"
Annoyed, Cakra grabbed her masters wrists as to stand up before putting them aside, "God! Be grateful will ya. She almost killed me!" Behind her, Setsuna's wing fell off quickly followed by her whole being.
The Hanyou suffered from minor cuts and burns. Her wings faded as well as her magic sword. Setsuna tried to get up but her twisted ankle prevent her rise, "damn it!" She cursed. Konoka quickly attend to her wounds.
Cakra, still feeling annoyed by her Ojou-sama, puffed her cheeks and sheated her nodachi. She grumbled as she left, "There! She's all yours. Make sure you stupid lovebirds make up. I even damaged my favorite hakama *grumble* *grumble*"
Hearing the statement, the hanyou let out a demanding look for explanation. Konoka felt guilt rushed over her chest as she was healing her beloved, "I'm really really sorry darling. But we were fighting. I didn't know what to do. Then I asked Cakra to train me. You got angrier. We fought even more. So I ask Cakra to.... oh I'm so sorry!" Tears dwell up her eyes.
Setsuna sighed and retreated her body towards the healer princess. She was glad that it was all an act, somehow. She told Konoka to stop apologizing, "Konoka, I have to apologize too. Sorry for overthinking again. I... I don't know."
"What do you mean?" The princess genuinely confused.
"Remembered the mission half a year ago, where we have to defeat golems at one of the Mars' magical cave?"
Konoka nodded.
"We failed our surprise attack and you got slammed so hard that your three layered barriers broke instantly. You went coma for weeks, I feared that you'll..." the hanyou paused, she couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence. She remembered the days where Konoka was laying at the Konoes mansion. Despute her duty as a magister magi, Setsuna would always make time to visit and held her wife's hand, hoping for the worst to not come. "I felt angry for being unable to protect you. Even after I vowed to protect you with my life at our wedding. I felt horrible and ashamed."
"But I've said you should not worry about that, Secchan! We both miscalculated our plans and BAM! I got into coma. It's not like you intentioanally sent me to get hit hard," The princess explained.
Setsuna puffed her cheek and throw her gaze away. There, her wife began talking in Cakra's manner again. She sure have spent too much time with her bodyguard, "Yeah. And you spent times longer with Cakra afterwards. You even learned swordsmanship from her, making me feel VERY useless if you come to master it." Setsuna sulked, "Sorry for doubting whatever reason you have for learning the path of sword. Yet, I can't help being selfish."
Konoka finished her healing and giggled at Setsuna, "My God, Secchan. So you are just being jealous after all this time! Why didn't you say so? I really believed that you hated me for being weak and therefore you stopped talking to me!"
The swordswoman frantically sat up and faced the princess, "No! You're not weak Ojou-sama! And above all, I wouldn't hate you if it is just for your weaknesses." Setsuna suddenly remembered how Cakra and Konoka trained the other day. They looked so intimate that Setsuna wanted to burn the scarfaced bodyguard.
Sensing her wife's jealousy over Cakra, Konoka crawled into Setsuna before capturing her lips.
"O-ojou... mph." Setsuna was stopped by another kiss.
"Konoka," the princess paused before capturing the hanyou's lips once more, "you sweared to call by my name, did you forgot?" The princess smiled seductively as she pushed her wife down before planting kisses on her neck.
"Bloody! I swear to God! Get a freakin' bloody room damned masters!" Cakra shouted as she press her shoulder bruise with a pack of ice. The bodyguard had already changed into her combat gear, "Boy! I sure am GLAD I came to check up on you! We have to attend to our client in 30 minutes! Jou-chan stop stripping! Crow, change to better clothes."
