Negima News: Negima Anime Comes to Sentai Filmwork's Catalog
Sentai Filmworks announced today that Negima would be making its way to their catalog. This would include the first series by Studio XEBEC and the second series by Shaft. These were the only seasons to be released outside Japan and both have received English dubs.
This is rather interesting. Many fans were surprised to hear UQ Holder would be licensed by Sentai, as Negima had been done by Funimation, but it looks like Sentai now has the rights to this series as well. It brings up some questions: did Funimation lose the license to Negima and is it going to disappear from their channels? Will the Spring and Summer OVA be available as well?
With Sentai Filmworks now appearing to have both properties available, it's not out of reach to speculate whether the Blu-ray boxes for both Negima and UQ Holder may or may not find their way overseas.
We'll be sure to cover future updates about this as there are several questions at this point. What do you think about this? Do you believe with this move, the Blu-ray versions of the anime might be released to an English audience? Let us know!
