Chapter 006: What Does It Mean To Be A Bit Ahead?
"I'm gonna gather up lots and lots of immortal buddies. And then I'll make a team! It'll be like an immortal family!"
With the towel now in Touta's hand, the boy's won Yukihime's challenge, so in return, she offers to show them a little skin as a reward. However, Touta refuses, explaining naked old women isn't his thing. This comment doesn't bode well with his caretaker, who smashes her foot into his face, leaving him begging to see her body. Seeing the two's interaction, Kuromaru finally bursts out in laughter Happy to see his friend smiling once again, Touta offers his hand once more, to which this time Kuromaru accepts, though still insisting it's due to their contract. With this newfound friendship sealed, Touta insists that he calls him by his first name rather than latter, before realizing Kuromaru is wearing his towel over his entire body rather than just his waist. This sparks Touta insisting on seeing what's under the towel, with even Yukihime joining in as the new member of the group flees.
On a new day, Kuromaru looks at the sky, finally allowing himself to accept his position before agreeing to become Yukihime's disciple. Touta runs ahead, remarking about the wide empty road, to which Yukihime explains that due to inflation, Japan as well as many other nations's populations have rapidly declined. However, he doesn't listen and instead talks to Kuromaru about his others buds. With his previous goal abolished, he asks his new friend if instead he'd like to join him in accomplishing his dream of going to space and becoming famous, but Kuromaru soon learns that Touta doesn't actually have a plan to achieve this. An idea creeps in his head and Touta quickly makes a new dream, one where they'll go and gather a bunch of other immortals and make a family, which seems to catch Yukihime's interest.
Before either can respond, a black car comes racing down the barren road, nearly running into Touta before narrowly dodging. A white-haired young man clad in a suit comes out, greeting "Madame Yukihime". His greeting was followed by many other identical vehicles racing toward them, with many men in black suits and sunglasses departing from the machines, rolling out a carpet, and bowing to the old vampire and greeting her.
While Touta and Kuromaru are awestruck and ultimately confused by what was happening, Yukihime converses with the first man to appear, mentioning she said she left, but he responds by insisting only she could be their leader. With no other choice, she turns around and tells the boys that someone else shared the same dream as Touta and these people were apart of it: an immortal family called UQ Holder.
Touta, who was under the impression these suited men were part of the Yakuza, is surprised by this and asks if that means all these people are immortal, too. Yukihime informs him that these people are only partially immortal, but that there are several different kinds of immortality. There are vampires, as well as a branch called aristocrats, those who use special items, demons and gods, cyborgs, those who have a stock of lives, curses, reincarnation, people who can create save points, etc. She looks at Kuromaru and mentions an immortality done through body modifications, noting the boy's source. He grimaces, stating all of these people were enemies of his clan. Touta reminds him that they're all comrades now and announces his plan to befriend them all.
