Merchandise News: UNIQLO Releases New Negima Shirt Designs!

It was recently accounted that the retail company, UNIQLO, is partnering with Kodansha to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Magazine. UNIQLO will be releasing their T-Shirt brand "UT", with designs from popular works that were printed in the the before-mentioned magazine or one of Kodansha's other publications. Such works include Fairy Tail, Seven Deadly Sins, Attack on Titan, Baby Steps, Shōta's Sushi, and Negima!

That's right, we have more Negima merchanise coming out in 2019! Two shirts are being released for series, one featuring the original class roster and the other with Asuna's Pactio Card design.

​A video was also released featuring the new designs.

​​These shirts are on sale on UNIQLO's website for ¥990 and will be released on August 12th. You can view more pictures of the shirts here. Hopefully, we might see more merch release for Weekly Shonen Magazine's anniversary. UNIQLO also made apparel for the 50th anniversary, so maybe we'll see more in another decade!

Site Update: UQ Holder Concept Chapter 2 Added!
In case you were not aware, two chapters conveying early ideas for UQ Holder's story have been released at this time. We have finally been able to scan and upload the second UQ Holder! concept chapter to the site! It features an entirely different story from the first proto-chapter, but features from familiar faces from the series we would get.

We can see a more carefree Touta than from the other chapter, much more similar to what would be his final design. We also see similar faces of members of UQ Holder.

You can view the entirety new chapter here. (It's 60+ pages!) Unfortunately, it is in the original Japanese text, so if you can help provide a translation, please contact us!

UQ Holder News: Volume 20 Cover Revealed!

UQ Holder has finally reached its 20th volume and its new cover was just revealed. We have the UQ Holder regulars, Touta and Kuromaru, but stealing the show is Nikitis Laps, who makes his first appearance on a manga cover. We also discover he sports a blonde head of hair.

Volume 20 will release on June 7th, 2019 in Japan.

Sentai Filmworks, the English publisher of UQ Holder, recently put out a neat quiz for the series. Simply answer nine questions to reveal which character you are most like. Of course, this isn't news or anything, but it is neat to see Sentai do something fun with the series for the fans.

UQ Holder News: Volume 19 Cover Revealed!

Volume 19 of UQ Holder was revealed awhile ago, the cover featuring a small number of the females in UQ Holder. Interestingly, we see Kuryuu, who hasn't appeared in the series for quite some time now, sporting a new color hair.

Volume 19 was released on February 2nd, 2019.

Site Update: The Future of the Site


​We here at Ala Alba pride ourselves in trying to bring fans recent news about Negima and UQ Holder and do our best to share content as well as creations for the series. However, as you may have noticed, updates here have been rather stagnant in recent months and we apologize for that. There's been an issue with internet access and it's been difficult to regularly post updates. That said, this place is certain still very much so alive and we're still working hard to update pages and hopefully, we'll be able to post news at a frequent pace again in the near future. There may be an influx of updates with old news, but please bear with us!
Despite the hiccups, within the past year, we've made several changes and updates to the site. Our most popular is the merchandise sections for both Negima and UQ Holder, but most notably, we've finished our Pactio Card guide, so if you haven't already, please consider checking it out!​

We wanted to let you know that we're also accepting fantography to the site, so if you would like to submit photos of cosplay, your figures, your newest pick-up, or your collection, you can do so! We'd love to see them!

In addition, we've also made a new way to submit fanworks to the site, fantography included! We've opened up a Discord server for the site, a place to submit, discuss the site, and get your latest news updates. It is different from the Mahora Academy server, so please keep that in mind. If you have any suggestions or would like to help us out, please check it out!

UQ Holder News: HIDIVE Acquires Rights to Streaming Rights to UQ Holder! Dub!

HIDIVE recently announced they acquired the streaming rights to Sentai Filmworks English dub of UQ Holder. Subscribers to HIDIVE will be able to start streaming the show starting November 22. Newly dubbed episodes will then be released every Thursday. 

If you're new to the service, you can get 7-day free trial. They offer many shows, including both Negima's TV series! If you're interested in checking it out or finding which countries apply, check out their site.

UQ Holder News: English Cast List and Clip Released!


The English cast list has come out for UQ Holder today and Sentai Filmworks also released a short clip, displaying a brief exchange between Touta and Yukihime. 

With Sentai now dubbing the series, many of Negima's former voices were replaced, but Greg Ayres and Luci Christian will reprise their roles of Negi and Asuna respectively. Monica Rial also keeps her former roles and takes on the noble, Dana.

Some of the main cast is as follows:
  • Touta Konoe - Brittney Karbowski 
    Brittney has been a prominent anime voice actress for over a decade now, with many notable roles under her belt. A small selection of her roles include Ayu Tsukimiya from Kanon, Yuri Nakumura from Angel Beats, Wendy Marvel from Fairy Tail, and Black Star from Soul Eater. She also voiced Anya in the second Negima!? series.
 
  • Kuromaru Tokisaka - Kalin Coates 
    While definely fresh to the voice world, Kalin has appeared in a number of titles, such as Utakata Misogi in Chilvary of a Failed Knight, Taeko Kondou in Girls und Panzer, and as a young Esdeath in Akame ga Kill.
 
  • Yukihime - Heidi Hinkel 
    Heidi is new to anime voices, only with a single credit, as Seven in Princess Principle.
 
  • Evangeline/Kitty - Shanae’a Moore
    With a select few roles from the past few years, a couple of her works include Beatrice in Princess Priniciple, Kanae Yajima in Aoharu x Machinegun, and Eiko Adachi in Amagi Brilliant Park.
 
  • Karin Yuuki - Molly Searcy
    With having acted in over 50 roles, Molly may be a familiar voice, especially in recent works by Sentai. She has voiced many noticable roles, such as Centorea Shianus in Monster Masume, Isuzu Sento in Amagi Brilliant Park, Reiko Mikami in Another, and Akame in Akame ga Kill!.
 
  • Kirie Sakurame - Amanda Lee
    While appearing in only a select number of roles since 2004, some of her work includes Akiho Shinomoto in Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, Anzu in Hinamatsuri, and Peipain in Show by Rock!!
